Planning Commission

The Pere Marquette Township Planning Commission is the body created through the authority of the Michigan Planning Enabling Act (33 of 2008).  Members are selected for 3-year staggered terms by the Township Supervisor, and appointed by the Township Board.

The Planning Enabling Act charges the Planning Commission with responsibility for:

  • Development of the Zoning Ordinance
  • Reviewing proposed developments, special use permits, and rezoning applications
  • Preparation, adoption, amendment of a Master Plan
  • Various recommendations to the Township Board

Comprehensive Plan  

In 2021, the Planning Commission began the process of reviewing and updating the Pere Marquette Charter Township Comprehensive Plan. 
On April 4, 2023, the proposed updates to the Plan were adopted by the Planning Commission.  A link to the recently adopted version is HERE.  See the revised FUTURE LAND USE MAP as its own document.
